MOUNT EVEREST BASE CAMP is reached by Rendez Managing Director, Mark Taylor. We don't like reporting on the boss's adventures, as he likes to do his own talking. We figure that's probably fair enough!
"Trekking in the world's highest mountains brings about plenty of challenges but it also provides some amazing vistas. One would be disappointed to hear otherwise but trekking in the Everest region provided much, much more. The highlight for me was meeting Elsie James. Elsie was walking a 24 day trek up to Mount Everest base camp where she was to spend her birthday. She was performing the trek with friends and family with the express purpose to raise money for the Blood Bank at Kathmandu Children's Hospital. What made this particular fund raising effort all the more admirable was the fact Elsie had recently received not 1 but 2 bi-lateral knee replacements. Add to this the fact that it was her 75th birthday she was celebrating and you gain an appreciation of how inspirational this women was.
